We're a couple based in Weston, Florida — and like a lot of dog parents, we thought we knew what we were doing. We had the food, the toys, the vet on speed dial. But somewhere between the third "why is she doing that?" and the tenth midnight Google search, we realized something: most of what's online about dogs is written for dogs, not about them.
So we started reading. Ethology. Canine cognition. Studies on attachment, scent, sleep, play, anxiety, training. We started testing — patiently, in our own home, with our own pack — what actually worked and what was just marketing.
That's how The Curious Dog Owner was born: as a notebook for everything we wished someone had handed us on day one.

The patient elder
Our resident Goldendoodle. Gentle, observant, and the reason we started paying attention to how dogs actually communicate. If a product passes Stoli's quiet, dignified approval — it ships.
The curious puppy
The newest member of the family. Tilted heads, soft eyes, and a brain that's learning the world in real time. Kai is why we obsess over puppy-stage products — beds, crates, food, enrichment.

The little Yorkie who started it all. Sake is no longer with us in person, but everything we do is shaped by the years he gave us. Every recommendation here has a piece of him in it.
Your dog isn't 'bad' or 'good.' They're a sensory animal trying to make sense of a human world. Your job is to translate, not correct.
